‘First International Symposium on ONE HEALTH Epigenomes and Microbiomes: From Soil to People’ will take place in Swissôtel, Quito, September 11-14, 2022, bringing together experts from around the world to share learnings across diverse disciplines focused on the need to implement the “ONE HEALTH / UNA SALUD approach to conserving healthy ecosystems, to produce and maintain healthy animals, and protect human health long-term”.

 

The scientific program will include topics related to One Health science, biodiversity conservation, environmental epigenetics, COVID-19 and wastewater-based epidemiology, mangroves genomes and epigenomes (MangroveENCODE), shrimp genomes and epigenomes (ShrimpENCODE); farmed shrimp aquaculture in coastal wetlands of Latin America; heavy metals, bisphenols and other endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) like glyphosate and other pesticides in agricultural soil and cow’s milk cheese, sediment of mangroves and wetlands, shrimp and other crustaceans, molluscs, livestock, chicken, wildlife, pets and people; glyphosate-free aquaculture feeds, glyphosate-free shrimp and fish; metals chelated by glyphosate in mangrove sediment near banana plantations and shrimp farms, fish, shellfish and people; microplastics in soil, water, shellfish and people; antimicrobial resistance; EDCs and congenital malformations, children obesity and One Health, PCBs, PAHs, toxicological transgenerational epigenetic inheritance to assess health risks to terrestrial and aquatic animals, and people caused by the exposure to glyphosate, Roundup®, and other environmental EDCs.
